The Vietnam Road Administration has just submitted to the Ministry of Construction a report on adjusting the Road Network Planning for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050, which proposes adding 3 expressways, expected to be invested in before 2030, including the routes: Lang Son - Thai Nguyen - Tuyen Quang - Yen Bai - Son La; Phan Thiet - Bao Loc - Gia Nghia and Viet Tri - Hoa Binh.
Specifically, the Lang Son - Thai Nguyen - Tuyen Quang - Yen Bai - Son La expressway is proposed to be approximately 378km long, with 4 lanes, as a ring road expressway in the northern region, connecting the administrative centers of localities and border provinces; linking the Tan Thanh (Lang Son) and Chieng Khuong (Son La) international border gates, forming a cross-border transport corridor. This expressway will contribute to creating room for the development of industrial zones, logistics, and urban areas; and enhance transportation capacity in the context of existing East-West routes being limited.
The Phan Thiet - Bao Loc - Gia Nghia expressway, approximately 141km long and with 4 lanes, will contribute to the formation of an East-West economic corridor, strengthening regional connectivity between the Southern Central Highlands and the South Central Coast and the Southern key economic region, promoting inter-regional economic development and international integration.
The Viet Tri - Hoa Binh expressway, approximately 55km long and with 4 lanes, will contribute to increasing the efficiency of existing expressways such as the North-South expressway (East and West) and the Noi Bai - Lao Cai expressway by forming a comprehensive network, supporting rational traffic flow management, and reducing the burden on the existing transportation system.
