Within the framework of the official visit of Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico to Vietnam, on the afternoon of April 13 in Hanoi, Prime Minister Robert Fico and Prime Minister Le Minh Hung co-chaired the Vietnam–Slovakia Business Forum, with the participation of representatives from ministries, agencies, trade promotion organizations, and more than 400 businesses from both countries.
At the Forum, the two Prime Ministers witnessed the signing ceremony of 7 Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) between businesses of the two countries. These agreements focus on the fields of manufacturing industry, technology, healthcare, finance, infrastructure, real estate, environment, and industrial park development, which are expected to create new momentum for bilateral economic cooperation, while opening up concrete investment opportunities for businesses from both sides in each market.
As an industrial hub in Central and Eastern Europe, Slovakia can become a strategic gateway for Vietnamese goods to access the EU market. Conversely, Vietnam is ready to be a gateway for Slovak businesses to expand into the ASEAN region. Notably, the EVFTA between Vietnam and the European Union has opened up a vast space for cooperation, creating favorable conditions for businesses of both countries to expand, strengthen cooperation, and participate more in the global value chain.
Following the opening session, the Forum continued with a trade and investment promotion session, including in-depth presentations on the business environment in Slovakia and Vietnam, conducted by representatives of SARIO and VCCI. The content focused on providing updated information on policies, investment opportunities, and cooperation orientations in potential areas: (1) manufacturing and high-tech industries; (2) energy development and green transition; (3) infrastructure, logistics and supply chain connectivity; (4) innovation and digital transformation; (5) education, training and human resource development.
At the Forum, Mr. Nguyễn Trọng Nghĩa – Chief Strategy Officer of Invest Global & TECCO1 – participated in signing a cooperation agreement between enterprises of the two countries in the field of infrastructure development and connectivity in Slovakia, based on BIM & Digital Twin platforms, as well as innovation and digital transformation in the construction sector.
In addition, a direct business networking session was organized (B2B) to facilitate meetings, exchanges, and the search for suitable partners between businesses from both countries, helping to the realize the cooperation opportunities established at the Forum.
